Jorge Luis Seco, borned June 9th, 1949, in El Barrio de Luyano, city of La Habana.
Raised in a middle class family, in a poor environment, but happy because he was always surrounded by love ones. He learned from his parents to live simply and enjoy life to its fullest.
His adolescence was full of admiration thanks to all the wonderful things that crossed his path. He loved to read and everything that had to do with the arts. In his third year of college, he was expelled for not preaching an opened optimism towards the communist system.
He leaves Cuba in 1979 and moves to Spain for almost a year, homeland of his grand parents. Then moves to the United States to rejoin his mother and sister which have been living here since 1969.
He had a rough beginning like any other immigrant, taking it easy until he finally got adapted to the local environment. In 1995, he published his first novel titled "Donde tu eres mi sol" where it was only available in Mexico and Spain. Then two years later it gets translated in English with the name of "The Only Sun I Need".
Wins a poetry prize from El Circulo de Escritores y Poetas Iberoamericanos (CEPI) in the city of New York. He is a tireless traveler since knowing other countries and cultures fulfills his spirituality. He wins again another poetry prize, the ALAC (Asociacion Latino Americana de Cultura) nationwide.
In 1999, he publishes a bilingual poetry book titled, "From The Other Shore - Desde La Otra Orilla" with drawings from a childhood closed friend of his. In 2003, he publishes his second novel awaited for so many, "CUBA: Solo Para Turistas". A novel that everyone is talking about with excellent reviews from the Cuban community.

His poems had appeared in different magazines in the United States and Spain. Surrounded with good friends and family, he resides in the state of New Jersey. At the moment he is working in a book of thoughts. Like the independent writer that he is, he does not live of his literacy. It has been 16 years that he works as a mailman in Hackensack, NJ.
He loves life. He is a friend of friends. His writings always talk about Cuba unacknowledgely. He writes passionally, but simple enough for everyone to comprehend.
His prose traps us in such way that its difficult to put down. He makes us laugh, cry and reflect. He show us life through his eyes. You can identify yourself with his characters because they are like us, like a family member or an acquaintance.
As you read his work you feel like you are getting closer to him, knowing him intimately and emotionally.
Any of his work can be obtained in this page and he would be more than happy to dedicate it to you.
Thanks to everyone who has trusted me.
Con
